The activities to be carried out within the campaign were announced to the members of the Parliament.
The World Rural Forum (WRF) presented on May 14 in the Basque Parliament the main objectives of the International Year of Family Farming IYFF-2014, an event declared by the United Nations after an intensive campaign of Civil Society.
Juan Luis Laskurain, president of WRF; Jose Mari Zeberio, executive secretary of WRF, and Jose Antonio Osaba, coordinator of the IYFF-2014 for Civil Society, announced to Parliament members the principles of the campaign and the current worldwide reality of Family Agriculture. This session took place in the framework of the Committee on Economic Development and Competitiveness of the Basque Parliament.
The WRF coordinates the IYFF-2014 worldwide activities in the field of Civil Society. Currently, the program for next year is at an advanced stage of preparation, in order to achieve two main objectives: improving public policies affecting family farmers and small farms, and increasing social awareness of the role they play, summarized in the official motto of the IYFF-2014: Feeding the World, Caring for the Earth.
